Having a “Language” section of a site can be a fairly tricky and contain vague implications of what should be written. “Language is not a clear transparent medium” as the Norton Anthology of Theory and Criticism so wisely states. Therefore, as a low level language student currently writing, I will be walking you through what I learn about Mandarin Chinese in two ways:

  • A straight forward “Here’s what I learned today” method which discusses some grammar or characters I’ve been working on,
  • Thoughts and commentary on the language.

The latter section is a bit iffy and conceptual, but very early on I would like to start thinking about how to better teach and instruct English speaking people in Chinese language by gaining a wider understanding of how to approaching teaching and learning. So each subpage will offer links to posts with a focus on the above subjects.
